Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

Okoshite (“the app”) handles only the information it needs to keep you from missing your stop, on your iPhone. In short: your location never leaves your device. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. To fix bugs and improve the app, usage and crash data are sent to Google Firebase (you can turn this off in Settings). Sensor readings are sent anonymously only if you agree.

The Japanese version of this policy (プライバシーポリシー) is the original; this English version is provided for convenience.

Location

The app uses your location only during a trip, to tell when you are approaching your station. So that it keeps working with the screen off, it also uses location in the background during a trip. Location is processed only on your device and is never sent to anyone, including us.

Motion sensors

To keep track of your trip where GPS can't reach, such as in the subway, the app uses your iPhone's motion sensor readings during a trip. They are processed on your device and are not sent anywhere unless you agree to share anonymous ride data (below).

Alarms

Alarms ring through Apple's AlarmKit. The stations and alarms you set are stored on your device.

Anonymous ride data (optional)

After a trip the app asks “Did we wake you at the right time?”. Only if you turn on “Share anonymous ride data”, the following is sent to our server to improve accuracy. This setting is off by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.

It does not include your location, station names, name, email address, advertising identifier or any other identifier of your device or of you. We do not store the sender's IP address. The data is not combined with other information, not used for tracking or advertising, and not shared with third parties. It is stored with Cloudflare, Inc. and kept for as long as needed to improve accuracy.

Usage and crash data (Google Firebase)

To fix bugs and improve the app, it uses Firebase by Google LLC (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics) and sends the following. You can stop it at any time with “Share usage and crash data” in Settings.

None of this includes your GPS location, station names, name or email address. The advertising identifier (IDFA) is not collected, and the data is not used for advertising or for tracking you across other companies' apps or websites. For how Google handles data, see the Google Privacy Policy.

Ride logs

Ride logs for improving accuracy are shared only if you choose to export them, by the method you choose (such as email or a file). They are never sent automatically.

Transit data

The app may access public data (such as the Public Transportation Open Data Center) to get stations, timetables and train service information. These requests contain no location or personally identifiable information.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment information.

Children

The app does not collect personal information such as names or contact details, so it handles everyone the same way regardless of age.

External transmission

As required by Japan's Telecommunications Business Act, here is the information the app sends to outside parties:

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with its date.
